At SummerHills Retreat we have planted out about 8 thousand trees and plants over a 20 year period as part of our ongoing rainforest regeneration project.
The established master planned gardens are dotted with sculptures, extensive stone walls and stone steps, pockets of rainforest, exotic tree and native plant species including Hibiscus, Bangalow Palms, Magnolias, Golden Rain, Fire Wheel tree, Brilliant Red Scotia, Tulip tree and Varaya to name a few...
We have also planted out significant native plants that are indigenous to the area specifically with the intention to attract local birds and other wildlife.
Our eco-retreat is home to an abundance of wildlife and many species of native birds including Kookaburras, Wedge-tailed Eagles, the rare/endangered Blue Wrens, red breasted finch, bowerbirds, rare native pheasants and Black Cockatoos and other animals including wallabies, echidnas, green tree frogs and possums.
Our resident koala family is also very happy in the eucalyptus trees that we planted 2 decades ago.
Our two walking trails are available as a self guided walk that you can take yourself or we can take you & your group on a guided walking tour.
Both our 2km walk and 4km hike are teaming with wildlife and are a delightful site to see.
On our 2km walk you will discover our 300 year old figtree – our “ficcus superb var henneana” which is gigantic in stature.
Much beauty abounds and immersing in nature at the SummerHills eco-retreat is a wondrous experience.
Come and relax in nature and allow the fresh air, sunlight and breathtaking vistas create an unforgettable experience for you.
